Speaking exclusively to Media Max-owned K24 Television. Mrs Karanja appeared to suggest that her arrest and subsequent arraignment in court was not informed by proper investigations.

She contended that DPP Noordin Haji came after her and her husband because of the staggering amounts in tax that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) claims Keroche Breweries has evaded.

"Before he takes any action, I want to really caution him, he needs to investigate because if you look at the numbers that is going for Keroche and how he run and I can imagine why he run because he heard that it is 13 billion in a small company like Keroche that they have evaded taxes, " the company's director said.

Tabitha Karanja was bundled alongside her husband into a DCI vehicle a few days ago and carted away for grilling.

The two were later arraigned in court to answer to charges of tax evasion and were released on bail.

She has claimed that the charges leveled against her are part of an elaborate scheme to persecute her and to roll back the successes of her business.

Charges facing Keroche have elicited mixed reactions with a section of Kenyans agreeing with her that she is being persecuted while another section egging on the DCI to tighten the noose on tax evasion.
