Speaking during the burial of Dr Laboso at Fort Ternan in Kisumu, Barchok said that her death is a big blow to the county and pledged to fulfil the promises she made to the people of Bomet.

Barchok exuded confidence that he will take the county to a new level as far as development is concerned upon his swearing-in as the county’s third chief. He said that he will honour the deceased by completing all the projects she had started before her demise.

“We will honour her by completing all projects she started. This government will remain Dr Laboso’s government until the term is over,” he said.

He said that Laboso made him rise to the national politics after appointing him to deputise her in the race for the gubernatorial post.

“I was a little known man but she reached out to me. I will not let her down,” he said.

He also said that he has heard calls for the appointment of a woman as his Deputy Governor after the death of Laboso
