The 10 were killed by suspected bandits who raided the area fully armed.

Among the 10 killed people are two police officers.

Police reports indicate that the attacks happened on Tuesday night. The bandits are said to have ambushed a vehicle killing three people.

They are said to have been driven by revenge on the area and went ahead to kill 7 more people in the area.

The two police officers who were killed were on their patrol when they were caught between the attacks.

Confirming the incidence, a security official who didn't want his name mentioned noted that this has caused fear among residents.

"The reports are true but I cannot comment further as this is a fluid situation that is still ongoing," the senior security official told Daily Nation.

Security officers in the area have met in a crisis meeting to discuss a way forward after the attacks.

This is not the first time bandits have attacked an area in Marsabit County.

The attacks come at a time President Uhuru Kenyatta's government has declared to fight any form of impunity, including bandit attacks in the country with all they have.

In a past event, the head of state had declared that no innocent lives will be lost without proper actions being taken.

Bandit and Al Shabaab attacks have caused fear among residents of the North-Eastern area for a long time.
