Your lungs are the organs that allow you to breathe. It is critical to pay close attention even to mild symptoms of respiratory problems.
Pay closer attention to the following signs:
1. Shortness of breath
When the lungs are normal, we breathe normally. However, when you have trouble breathing, experience episodes of shortness of breath, you should get checked by a doctor.
2. Chronic mucus production
Mucus also called sputum or phlegm is produced in the airways for example bronchioles in the lungs when one suffers from lung disease. The mucus is usually produced in large amounts.
3. You cough up blood
This is a very serious symptom meaning you should rush to a doctor. Your lungs could be in trouble when you cough out mucus with blood traces. This could also mean you are developing lung cancer. Your doctor will find out.
4. You have chest or shoulder pains
Although chest pain is usually linked to heart trouble, it is also associated with lung problems. Swollen lungs could cause pain on the inner lining of the chest. This is usually called pleuritis.
5. Your chest wheezes when you breathe
When your chest wheezes as you breathe, it means your airways have been blocked either by mucus or the airways have constricted. All these are symptoms of complications of the lungs.
