Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has been challenged not to forget addressing insecurity at his home area.
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi urged Matiang'i to intervene following the escalating cases of insecurity being reported in Gusii region.
"I want to urge Cs Matiang'i being the Interior docket boss not to forget addressing the insecurity issues being reported in Kisii more particularly Kenyenya Sub-County. The Cs should move with speed and ensure police officers attached to the various police stations across the county are working hard to curb insecurity," said Maangi.
The Deputy Governor reiterated the need for residents to be assured of their security saying most residents who are traders in Magena market have started fearing for their lives.
Maangi encouraged youths to venture into profitable activities instead of joining gang groups with the aim of stealing from locals.
"Lack of jobs should not be an excuse as to why youths should join gang groups to attack, rob and kill people. I urge Matiang'i to ensure matters security at his backyard are addressed fully and residents be allowed to do businesses day and night without fearing for their security," stated Maangi.
He was speaking at his office on Tuesday.
