Striking Kisumu doctors have accused the county government of coming up with promotions to illegal job groups, in a bid to have them resume duty.
The medics who have been on strike since early this month, are demanding for among others; promotions, study leaves, and health insurance from the county leadership.
In a statement signed by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Nyanza Chairman Kevin Osuri on Tuesday, the doctors accused the county's heath department of trying to hoodwink them into resuming duty.
"The country government had drawn letters to wrong and illegal job groups, placing doctors in much junior job groups with an unacceptable losses of career years,” reads the letter.
They further dared the county to proceed and sack them as claimed by Health County Executive Judith Atyang, who on Monday gave them a day to return to their workstations.
Osuri said no amount of threats will do the trick, daring Governor Anyang' Nyong'o's government to proceed and sack them.
They said unless the county implements a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed between them, then county residents will continue suffering.
"The county government should not punish the doctors and its loving citizens any further by implementing the agreements it signed with the doctors union to get the doctors back to work immediately,” the doctors said.
