Uasin Gishu county deputy governor Daniel Chemno said that culture is what affects young generation in the community urging parents to teach their children positive cultures.

Speaking on Wednesday while presiding over the Sisibo festival in Eldoret town, the county second-in-command said that it is the parental responsibility to guide children on how to behave.

He said that children have lately been adopting cultures they pick from watching too much tv thus the Western cultures being replicated now something that should be denounced.

“We must also eat the indigenous food in our menu, eating traditional vegetable improve body immunity and prevent lifestyle diseases,” he said.

However, Deputy Governor urged that cultures should be embraced claiming distinguished ways of lives identify each community from the other.

“We should be proud of our cultures and having it here today’s exhibitions, it promotes interaction and unity of our people,” DG. Chepno said.

He further said that the county government will continue supporting various cultures promotion in promotion of peace ad and cohesion in the cosmopolitan county.

Culture exhibition dubbed Sisibo is the first event and it is expected to be don annually sponsored the county government. It brought together Nuer, Agikuyu, Kalenjin, Turkana, Somalis, Maasai and Luo cultures.
