President Uhuru Kenyatta has been brought under questioning regarding the role of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga in his government.
Uhuru and Raila have been close since their 2018 truce, a reunion that has also seen Raila benefit greatly, as far as his tightened and bigger security detail is concerned.
According to Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, this shows that the former Prime Minister is in government, and he now wants Uhuru to tell Kenyans the actual role Raila is playing.
"It's coming out that Raila Odinga is in government and what the president needs to do is clarify to Kenyans the roles of Raila Odinga in government," he said on Sunday.
The leader spoke in an interview with Citizen TV, an opportunity he also used to weigh in on Saturday incident where a planned rally in Mumias was scuttled by the police.
The youthful MP, one of those who were expected at the function, claimed that 1,000 police officers were deployed to block the function scheduled for Nabongo Grounds.
"Surprisingly, the number of police officers who were sent to come and disrupt our meeting were more than one thousand people," he added.
Raila's reunion with Uhuru has not been received well by a section of members of the ruling Jubilee Party, who have warned that he might use his closeness to Uhuru to break the party.
It has also been seen as the main reason behind the widening rift between Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto, who spent the first months of the truce warning Raila against importing conmanship into Jubilee.
