French authorities have said that a 29-year-old woman, who was heavy with a child, has succumbed to her injuries after a pack of hunting dogs unleashed on her.
Elisa Pilarski's body was discovered in a forest near the town of Villers-Cotterêts in Northern France.
The attack on her transpired as she was walking her dogs in the forest.
An autopsy on the body found that she had succumbed to “bleeding after several dog bites to the upper and lower limbs and the head," according to prosecutor Frederic Trinh.
"The autopsy determined that the death occurred between 1 pm and 1:30 pm and was due to haemorrhage following several dog bites in the upper and lower limbs and in the head, some bites being before death and others after death," the prosecutor said as quoted by BBC.
"The lifeless body of a 29-year-old woman was discovered by her partner in the vicinity of a forest trail in Retz, located in the commune of Saint- Pierre-Aigle," he added.
Authorities say that tests are being done on 93 dogs with the view of opening a manslaughter investigation.
The victim of the bloody attack is reported to have called her husband expressing her fears.
"I'm scared, come quickly. There are plenty of dogs barking around," she reportedly told her husband.
Christophe, who is the husband, rushed to the scene only to be met by the ghastly sight of the body of her wife with their dog curled around her.
The attack has sparked calls for a ban on hunting with dogs.
