Bomet County senator Dr. Christopher Langat has come out strongly to defend himself from the public after allegations that he is using the senate to sabotage the Bomet Governor Dr. Hilary Barchok.
Speaking on Thursday morning on political morning show on TAACH FM, the senator said that Bomet governor appeared before the Senate Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday to answer corruption allegations in his office.
"I am not in the committee who questions governors on county expenditures, in fact, I was called on the day the governor was to be before the committee ",(ane komomi committee netepsen gavanek omi nepo somanet , kigiguron betut noton kogogegur gafana nepo Bomet) Dr. Langat said.
Langat accused the former Governor Isaac Ruto of the expenses incurred for furniture procurement which was in question. He further added that however, it is the current regime that is now bearing the brunt on the hiked county expenditures.
"Enemies saw an opportunity when the late governor was ailing and took advantage to steal the county resources," he added.
He cautioned those in office to be careful in managing resources as EACC will follow them even if they are of office, and that they cannot escape it.
He urged the governor to follow closely those working for him in the office as they are squandering money without his knowledge but he'll be the one required to answer the questions.
He added that the senate committee was not satisfied with the answers given by the governor, saying that the files might have been misplaced during the movement from the old office to the new office the Bomet Governor gave and he might be required to appear before the committee again.
