You have probably heard someone lamenting online, "Hello friends, my account was hacked"
Hacking is becoming common and to the surprise of many, even Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg has previously had his account hacked.
"This is a really serious security issue," Zuckerberg was once quoted by The New York Post.
To avoid being hacked, here are the top 3 methods one can use:
1. Enable two-factor authentication
This is a feature that registers your logged-in computer password but further sends a code to your phone number that you finally use to log in. This feature is termed 'fool-proof lock' and can be easily enabled by using settings> security> review log in verification method on Facebook.
2. Use strong password
When setting up your password, one is discouraged from personal information such as one's name. A strong password should at least contain 8 symbols, with some uppercase letters and symbols such as exclamation mark.
3. Avoid browsing on public Wi-Fi
Do you like free public Wi-Fi? It's time to take precautions. Many public WiFi networks are not secure. Hackers can use public Wi-Fi to position themselves between you and the connection point, thereby managing to get your Facebook password.
With the many cases of fraud using Facebook, it is therefore important to watch these tips to avoid being hacked.
