Allies of Deputy President William Ruto argue that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga belong to dynasties, due to Jomo Kenyatta's and Jaramogi Oginga's leadership in Kenya's first government.

Also claimed to be in the group is Baringo Senator Gideon Moi whose father Daniel Moi is a former president and former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi whose late father Moses Mudamba was a minister in Moi's government.

Speaking on Saturday, Mutura claimed that the group, excluding the Mudavadis, has misused their stay in politics, including questionably acquiring huge tracts of land which can amount to the size of Nyanza province.

"These four families, excluding Mudavadi, own land equivalent to Nyanza province (Hizi familia nne, ukitoa Mudavadi, shamba zao zikiunganishwa ni equivalent to Nyanza province)," alleged the former lawmaker.

The politician made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show.

The ex-legislator further argued that the families have also dominated the economy due to their investments worth billions of shillings, claiming that they run half of the country's economy.

"Looking at the investment sector, they run 50 per cent of the economy. (Ukiangalia mambo ya investment. Uchumi karibu 50 per cent ni yao)," he added.

Raila and Uhuru have been criticised by Ruto's camp following their 2018 truce, which the DP's allies believe will make the president renege on his initial promise to endorse Ruto as his successor in the 2022 race.

While Mudavadi remains lukewarm on his stand on the union, Moi has openly declared his full support for it.
