Police in Eldoret on Thursday netted millions of fake currency stored at a house in Elgon View estate in the outskirts of Eldoret town.
According to Kapseret police boss Francis Warui, the fake money was found at the home of Peter Sitati, a politician who vied for the Webuye parliamentary seat and lost.
"We decided to raid the residence after a lady made a complaint to us that the politician had defrauded her off Sh600,000 in the name that he wanted to multiply the money.
"After searching the house, we found a lot of five hundred notes which were not genuine. We also got Euros and US dollars. We arrested the caretaker who is helping us with investigations," Warui said.
The police boss, however, said two suspects managed to escape, adding that a manhunt has been launched against them.
He urged residents to be careful not to be conned by fraudsters claiming that they have powers to double their money.
Warui called upon the residents to work with the police and report any illegal activities happening in their estates.
During the raid, the police also managed to get machine and powder used to make fake money.
