President Uhuru Kenyatta as asked Governors to ensure no public funds are misused in their administration.
Speaking at the Wanguru stadium in Kirinyaga, Uhuru warned the county bosses that they will be sent home if they abuse their offices and engage in acts of graft.
He was making an apparent reference to former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu who was last week impeached by the Senate.
The President retorted that all governors must account for the resources they are given by the people or else they will be punished harshly.
He also asked Members of the County Assemblies (MCAs) to remain vigilant against corrupt governors.
“Be vigilant, you have heard what has happened to to other people, take good care of public resources, and MCAs if you're here, be vigilant. (Muwe chonjo, mumesikia kile kimewafanyikia watu, muchunge mali ya uma, na MCA’s kama mko hapa, mkae chonjo),” Uhuru said, as quoted by Citizen Digita;.
The President also asked the governors linked to corruption not to drag his name into their woes.
He asked the leaders to face the court and defend themselves whenever they are mentioned of graft rather than running to his feet with the hope that their careers will be saved.
The President said that he will not relent when it comes to fighting graft and promised to go to lower levels including officials tasked with handling County Development Funds (CDF).
