A story is told of Ben Gethi, former General Service Unite (GSU) commandant who reined terror on politicians opposed to Mzee Jomo Kenyatta during the first regime.
He has heavily linked to the murders of then Nyandarua North Josiah Mwangi 'JM' Kariuki in 1975, whose body was later found rotting at the Ngong' Forest days after his last sight.
Another of Gethi's victims was Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during his detention after implication in the 1982 coup against former President Daniel Moi's government.
This he did in his new capacity as the Police Commissioner.
It emerges that after his arrest, Gethi went to Raila seeking to extract a written confession from him, which he wanted the ODM leader to address to "Uncle Ben".
Drunk and chewing on a roast goat leg, Gethi tore down four letters written by Raila as he did not find the confession messages in them compelling enough.
But little did he know that his days were also numbered and was sacked only three weeks that was mounted by rebel forces deployed to the Air Force.
In his 2013 bio "The Flame of Freedom", Raila admits that he indeed played a role in the coup that made Senior Private Hezekiah Ochuka President for the half of August 1, 1982.
