Footballers fail to score penalties on various occasions with the occurrence being taken as normal and part of the game.
French national soccer team and Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann missed a penalty on Saturday as his side played Albania in a EURO 2020 qualifier match, with the striker linking the missed spot kick to his wife.
"As I said earlier, maybe it's because my wife didn't watch the game! I was on a good dynamic but we can't score every time. Too bad, I'll have to work on it," he was quoted by goal.com.
His effort went crashing over the cross bar in the first half, however, France won the game 4-1.
The forward was, however, satisfied with the collective team work that won the game.
"We were missing important players, whether on the field or in the locker room. The players who played in their place did it very well. We are on the right track and it shows that we are a group. We had a good game. We can only regret the goal we conceded at the end," he said.
Griezmann recently joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid.
He was one of the star performers that propelled France to the World Cup title in 2018 in Russia.
