The investigations kicked off after Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary James Macharia wrote to DCI boss George Kinoti to investigate the issue.

The sleuths have said that the amount includes Sh2.5 billion reportedly lost in the rehabilitation of the Kisumu Port.

It is reported that some of the top officials at the port have been frustrating the office of the DCI in the probe into the matter.

KPA's top management has been accused of chasing away officials from the DCI when they went to seek information on the loss of the funds.

The officials have also been put on the spot for hoarding documents as well as intimidating some of the potential witnesses in the case.

“The allegations disclose wide-ranging fraud and theft running into colossal amounts,” said Kinoti in his letter to CS Macharia, quoted by Daily Nation.

DCI also wants six other top managers at KPA to be probed into the matter. They are now digging deeper into the issue.
