Currently, IEBC is operating with only three commissioners, all male contrary to constitutional provisions of one-third gender rule, which is mandatory.

Only Wafula Chebukati, Boys Molu and Abdi Guliye are working as commissioners, following resignation of four others, putting the commission at a perilous position.

At Mombasa on Friday, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua termed IEBC unconstitutional, calling for it's immediate disbanded and subsequent reconstitution.

"The current IEBC is unconstitutional, it violates the gender rule-gender inclusivity is not tokenism, its about half the population; for the people by the people. It should be disbanded," she said.

"Gender inclusion and public participation have not been take seriously and we cannot reopen discussions on the gender rule without any attempt to comply with the relevant agencies," she added.

Dr Paul Kurgat, Margaret Mwachanya and Consolata Maina, who was Vice Chair, resigned last year after disagreement with Mr Chebukati.

In 2017, Roselyne Akombe resigned. Over the weekend, Ms Akombe said that she's ready to testify what transpired in presidential polls, which forced her to resign.

"Thank you for starting this excellent debate. You may be aware that I delivered my end of assignment report to @IEBCKenya. Among other topics, I called for an independent inquiry to the 2017 election. I am ready to testify under oath. Do your part. Get it set up, I will fly back," she wrote.
