A junior police officer who was caught on camera protesting against being frustrated by senior officials will not face disciplinary action.
National Police Service Commission (NPSC) chair Eliud Kinuthia on Tuesday said that the Administration Police officer Jane Asimizi has been spared after her video went viral and sparked mixed reactions from different factions.
Kinuthia also said that the commission will look into her plight and respond accordingly. This comes a week after Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai ordered that she goes for compulsory leave.
He also asked the doctors to conduct a psychiatrist test on her. Kinuthia has, however, said that she will remain in her current position.
“The officer has not been fired and will not be fired. She seemed to have been troubled psychologically at the time and that is why she was told to take some time off, maybe two weeks then we will look into her concerns,” Mr Kinuthia said, as quoted by NairobiNews.
In the video, The Kakamega-based police officer said that she was not happy because the senior officials were assigning her duties without any allowances.
She also said that she was ready to resign if that was the only way to get freedom. She was faulted for lacking professionalism in her fight for justice.
