Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is nowhere to be seen two days after he promised to name his Deputy.
Sonko, who is facing investigations over allegations of procurement irregularities and unexplained expenditures in the garbage collection, has not revealed why he is yet to name his DG after he made the promise.
The first-term governor has been dilly-dallying since he made the revelations and it remains unclear what he is up. The governor has been serving without a DG after Polycarp Igathe decided to resign from the position.
The governor later nominated controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna for the post but the Jubilee top brass rejected him.
The governor walked a tightrope after a section of leaders from the Jubilee camp started rooting for his impeachment.
The power vacuum has since seen him face immense pressure to quit but he has been adamant over the same.
The governor has been making promises on several occasions that he will name the DG but he has not honoured any of them.
His leadership has been a subject of criticisms in the recent past after the failure to name someone who will assist him deliver his promises.
Sonko has, however, affirmed that the lack of the Deputy will not affect his performance in any way amid pressure from the rivals.
Senator Johnstone Sakaja is among those who have been asking Sonko to name his DG.
