The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has been cautioned against being too confident of retaining the Kibra parliamentary beat in the mini poll slated for November 7.
The former Prime Minister Raila Odinga-led side has expressed confidence in securing a win, with some members terming the constituency Raila's "political bedroom".
But speaking on Monday, political commentator Dennis Anyoka said that the party might be treated to a rude shock, warning against thoughts that the region is rigid.
He said that chances are that the constituency might have shifted its allegiance, and could also end up voting in a different direction, though it has always backed ODM in previous polls.
"ODM thinks Kibra is theirs, but maybe its nolpngers theirs. Maybe it has shifted towards Jubilee or ANC (ODM wanadhani Kibra ni yao lakini labda si yao tena, labda imeenda kwa Jubilee ama ANC)," he said on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Monday morning.
Jubilee and ANC (Amani National Congress), through their candidates McDonald Mariga and Eliud Owalo have also out up a spirited fight in a bid to push ODM out of the seat.
Anyoka, therefore, warned that the party might have it hard explaining itself should it lose, and should cease assuring its supporters of a victory just yet.
"Dont go there with the mentality that you must win? What happens if you are defeated, especially fairly? (Usiende pale eti lazima ushinde, itakuwaje ukishindwa, tens kihalali?)" he posed.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Imran's brother Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer of the colon in July.
