ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has responded to claims made by after Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi over the handshake.
Mudavadi alleged that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga came about due to an impeding to visa ban by western countries.
Mudavadi, who is in the US to solidify his political base ahead of 2022 presidential race, told Kenyans at Muungano SDA Church in New Jersey that the peace pact between Uhuru and Raila was due to fear of getting their visas cancelled.
“The secret is that slowly Visas were being cancelled. And when Visas are cancelled, they don’t just cancel yours alone. They cancel yours, that of your wife, children, and relatives,” he said.
Sifuna, through on Thursday afternoon, rubbished Mudavadi's claims terming them as lies saying that the pressure from the diplomatic circles only wanted to stop Raila's mock swearing-in.
"Mudavadi is lying. The pressure from the diplomatic corps was applied to try and STOP the SWEARING in of the People's President. It is In fact the REASON "internationally renowned" diplomats/former foreign ministers failed to show up at Uhuru Park. They bowed to foreign pressure!" said Sifuna.
He hit out at Miudavadi saying the together with NASA co-principals, Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), they caved in to pressure by the diplomatic community in attending the mock swearing- in ceremony.
