An anti-corruption court on Wednesday ordered ex-Nairobi Finance minister Jimmy Kiamba to pay the government Sh317 million.
Issuing this ruling, the judge noted that Kiamba had a case with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Court.
According to the ruling, he is also expected to pay the government another Sh35 million or forfeit his house in Runda Water Estate.
In addition, Kiamba will also pay the government another Sh282,648,604.
“I, therefore, declare that the total sum of the money indicated to be unexplained assets,” said Justice Hedwig Ogundi.
According to investigations done by EACC detectives, Kiamba had been involved in fraudulent transactions.
Testifying against Kiamba, EACC investigating officer, James Kariuki pointed out that the accused had enlisted the services of his driver and a security guard to deposit for him questionable amounts of money into his account.
The EACC also noted that Kiamba has assets worth Sh872 million which he cannot explain how he got them given his salary.
However, Kiamba in his defence argued that he owns several businesses in various sectors including agriculture, transport and real estate.
He pointed out that his wife has businesses in interior design and a beauty parlour.
