Kenya National Soccer team, Harambee Stars players are currently holed up in camp at the Moi Stadium Kasarani, preparing for the 2019 edition of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) games.
The tournament kicks off on December 7 and will run up to December 19, 2019, in Uganda.
One of the over 20 players currently in Harambee Stars camp is Western Stima striker Benson Ochieng Omalla.
In an exclusive phone interview with Hivisasa on Wednesday, the 18-year-old striker said he was surprised to be called up to the national team ranks by head coach Francis Kimanzi.
“I was really surprised, I did not expect it at all. It is a whole new experience. I am really delighted,” said Omalla.
The Western Stima forward said his major aim is to play for Spanish giants Barcelona or English Premier League side Manchester United in the future.
“I want to establish my game at Western Stima before I move out of the country. I aspire to play for Manchester United or Barcelona in the future,” said the Kisumu Day student.
He will be joining form four at the school next year.
“I normally play football during holidays but during school days I concentrate on my studies,” he said when asked about how he balances books and football.
Before joining Stima mid this year, Omallo turned out for Manyatta United. He was in the team that won the 2019 edition of the Boys’ Chapa Dimba na Safaricom title in June.
He was on the score sheet as Stima defeated KCB 1-0 in a Kenya Premier League encounter in Kisumu, on November 25.
