DCI detectives on Friday arrested four people suspected to be members of the Wakali Kwanza gang.

In a tweet, DCI noted that the four were nabbed in a calculated ambush. 

''FOUR SUSPECTS believed to members of the WAKALI KWANZA Gang were today arrested by #DCI Detectives at Kizingo, Mombasa. They are: 23yr old Nicholas Guku Ngare, 24yr old Salim Bakari, 20yr old Stephen Otende & a 17yr old Girl. Upon search, 5 Machetes, Bhang & Knives were recovered,'' wrote the DCI.

The dreaded Wakali Kwanza criminal gang has caused many deaths in various parts of Mombasa.

The group consists mainly of young boys, who have been overtaken by drugs. 

Wakali Kwanza is among various criminal gangs in Mombasa that terrorise residents. 

Police are always on watch-out for these gang members. Residents have also been urged to immediately report to the nearest police station when any members from the criminal groups are spotted for arrests to be made.

Police in Mombasa have been put on alert following attacks on various areas in Mombasa that happened recently. 

A lot of criminal activities happen during holidays and it mostly involves minors.
