Top Kikuyu Benga musician John Ng'ang'a Mwangi, popularly known as John De'Mathew, will be laid to rest on Saturday.
The singer died after his car rammed into a lorry in Thika Town on Sunday night.
He was pronounced dead at the Thika Nursing Home after he was rushed there following the accident. Radio and TV stations have been playing his songs after his demise.
Fellow Kikuyu musician Kamande Wa Kioi, who spoke to Daily Nation, said that the death of the musician is a big blow to the entertainment sector and the entire nation.
“We are lost for words following his untimely death, as we had closely worked together over the years,” Wa Kioi said.
Several leaders have already sent their message of condolence to the family of the deceased. President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga are among the high profile leaders who have sent their messages of condolence to the family of the deceased singer.
The singer will be remembered for a series of hits including Njata Yakwa (My star). The singer died after he contributed towards the treatment of his colleague’s son while on his way home.
