Firebrand lawyer Miguna Miguna has waded into the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party politics, reacting to the removal of Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok as the party vice chairman.
In a National Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday in Nakuru, ODM replaced Nanok with Loima MP Jeremiah Lomorukai on grounds he (Nanok) had 'abdicated his responsibilities' as the party's vice chairman.
On his part, Nanok, who recently endorsed Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, accused the Raila Odinga-led outfit of using 'old KANU tactics' by removing him in total disregard of the party constitution.
"If ODM claims to be a democratic party, it must strictly follow the process of removal of an official and election of a replacement, the officer being removed [should] be summoned and given the opportunity to explain himself," the governor said.
Nanok will officially cease to be party vice chairman once the National Governing Council ratifies NEC's decision to dislodge him.
Commenting on the issue, Miguna likened ODM to a 'Caliphate' where Raila was the ruler and was using tactics such as cowardice and dictatorship to rule.
"Governor Josephat Nanok, welcome to the Odinga Caliphate: The house of chaos, cowardice, greed and dictatorship. Only the revolution will cleanse Kenya of despotism, greed, looting and human rights abuses," Miguna tweeted on Friday.
A Caliphate is an Islamic state under the leadership of an Islamic ruler known as Caliph.
