The official (name withheld), is said to have kicked out interim payroll officers from their office before locking it on grounds that they could be attacked by employees.

At his residence on Monday, Nyagarama along with his deputy Amos Nyaribo, summoned the official and warned him against interfering with staff audit.

"If you have issues with the interim payroll team let me know. Otherwise, this is the last time you're doing that. I personally ordered for the audit and it should be respected," Nyagarama is said to have told him.

The furious ODM county boss added: "If you have issues with security, just get the police and have the place secured. Locking the doors for a team with a mandate is not worthy. We must support things that benefit the people."

Last week, Nyagarama sent away a battalion of Payroll team to have way for clean up. In his address, Nyagarama said the interim team will handle cases if illegal employment and promotions.

So vicious has been the battle that the said officer and a group of county workers, have waged a war against the interim payroll team, accusing minister in charge of Public Service of allegedly being a beneficiary of the same fraud being investigated.

Mr Nyagarama has however insisted that the payroll purge remains unstoppable for the purpose of reducing the ballooning wage bill.
