Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has now termed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) a lasting solution to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party's alleged disruptive politics every electioneering period.
According to Ahmednasir, the report which was as a result of the famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga after 2017 disputed presidential results will play a crucial role in uniting Kenyans during election period.
He further faulted a number of Kenyans who have not appreciated the commander-in-chief for ensuring the unveiling of the report.
''Many Kenyans don't give credit to H.E Uhuru for the BBI initiative...because they don't appreciate it contextually. BBI is FINAL solution to ODM's perennial destabilising/disruptive politics after losing elections. BBI is a SOLEMN UNDERTAKING that ODM will accept election results,'' tweeted Ahmednasir.
Ahmednasir sentiments come amid intense debate on how the implementation of the report should be done, either through parliament or referendum.
Raila Odinga who is the co-owner of the report has since proposed a referendum way which according to him, the majority of people should decide.
“We need to understand that power is vested in the people. What Parliament can change can also be done directly by a majority of the people. In the BBI report, there are proposals altering the structure of the Constitution and once a consensus has been reached on the proposals, then it will require a referendum,” Mr Odinga said.
The report which its content was collected from Kenyans was seeking to address various issues that have been affecting Kenyans since independence.
