Details continued to trickle Saturday on the so-called mystery man at the centre of the Tob Cohen's murder case.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Sarah Wairimu's lawyer Philip Murgor explained why his client sent the ex-husband of Gilgil MP Sh10,000 through MPESA.
According to the former Director of Public Prosecutions, Peter Karanja who was arrested on Saturday is an MC and was paid the money as an advance for services he was to render during the wedding of Wairimu's daughter's wedding.
"Peter, the mystery man is a professional MC and he was the MC at the wedding of Sarah's daughter on the 22nd of December 2018," Murgor said in part of the video shared on YouTube by NTV. (19:53-20:10)
He rejected the claim by the prosecution that Karanja was paid the money in connection with the alleged murder of Tob Cohen.
The lawyer also hit out at the investigators for not seeking to know why the ex-husband of Gilgil MP Martha Wangari was paid the money.
In a bid to prove that the money was not for any ulterior motive, Murgor showed receipts of the transaction to members of the press.
Tob Cohen's body was discovered in underground storage on Friday and was taken to the Chiromo Mortuary ahead of a postmortem to be carried out on Monday.
