One person died while 10 others sustained injuries after a road accident along Nairobi - Machakos road on Sunday.
Confirming the incident, Machakos County emergency services department director David Mwongela said that the morning accident happened at Kenya Israel in Machakos.
Mwongela told journalists that three people sustained serious injuries while seven others sustained minor injuries.
He said that the driver was unable to control the vehicle on approaching Kenya Israel and the vehicle veered off the road thus rolling several times.
"The vehicle was heading to Athi River from Machakos and on reaching the scene, the driver lost control because he was overspeeding, the vehicle rolled severally," said Mwongela.
"One died on the spot while three sustained serious injuries, the rest had minor injuries," he added.
Those injured were taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital for treatment while the body of the one who died was moved to the same hospital's mortuary.
Mwongela urged drivers to exercise caution on road to avert accidents.
He also called for the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to conduct a meeting with drivers and do a suitability test on them.
