An illicit brewer in Kiambu County on Sunday evening attacked and injured four chiefs from the area following an altercation with them.
The four administrators from the Kabete Sub-County found themselves in trouble after they forced their way to the drinking den at the Wangige Market in a crackdown against illicit brew.
They stormed the den after they received a tip-off from the members of the public from the place. The chiefs reportedly asked the seller to surrender to the police but she decided to beckon goons who decided to attack them with blows and kicks.
The chiefs who were attacked are Wangige location chief Samuel Mburu, Muigai Robert (Ruku) Robert Muiruri (Kirangari) and Peter Gachuhi (Gathiga).
“This is a man we’ve arrested severally, we know him and he operates around. We feel our lives are in danger…bearing on what has happened. We need to be armed or even being given police escorts all the time,” said one of the chiefs.
Kabete Assistant County Commissioner Felistas Ngumbao has confirmed the incident. He said that the police have launched a manhunt for the brewer from the area. He warned that stern action will be taken against the brewer and goons from the area following the incident
