Popular gospel musician Audiphaxad Peter Omwaka better known as Guardian Angel recently opened up about his tough childhood and how he at one point ended up in jail as a street boy.
Speaking during an interview on Milele FM, Guardian Angel revealed that he moved from the village to Nairobi as a street kid.
Unfortunately for him, he ended up at Central Police Station after the government ordered for the homeless children to be cleared from the streets.
Due to overpopulation at the station, he was taken to an approved school where he later on reunited with his mother who was living in Kibera.
According to the 'Kuongozwa' hitmaker, life was also not easy during his stay with his mother.
"But God promoted me from a street kid in the village to a street kid here in the city, Jesus helps. So at 9 years, I became a street kid but then we were arrested after the president instructed for the streets to be cleared. So I was arrested and taken to Central Police Station for a while, but then it was full so I was taken to an approved school.
(Lakini mungu anasaidia tu akanipea promotion from a street huko village akanileta nikakua street kid huku city, yesu anasaidia. So hapo 9 years nikaja nikakua street kid hapo kidogo kisha tukakua arrested because president alisema street zikue cleared. So nikawa arrested nikaenda central nikakaa huko for a while, lakini ikawa imejaa tukapelekwa approved)," Guardian Angel narrated.
