The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is probing the county government of Nairobi over corruption claims.

On Friday, EACC summoned the entire cabinet of Governor Mike Sonko as the sleuths seek to find records of the expenditures in different dockets.  

In a letter dated November 15, 2019, five other officials from the county government are also expected to record their statements with the detectives over the operations of the county government. 

"Further kindly inform and facilitate the release of the following county officials who have served or are still serving in these positions for an interview and statement recording at our offices located at Integrity center, Nairobi," reads the letter, as seen by The Star.

The summoned officials are Leboo Ole Morintat (deputy county secretary), Peter Mugo (chief of staff), Samwel Kinyanjui (County Secretary of Nairobi) and Joyce Kinyanjui (head of CEC secretariat).

 In a letter signed by the commission’s Deputy Director for Forensic Investigation John Kolkoloi, the anti-graft body asked the officials to report to its headquarters to record statements on the use of resources meant for the taxpayers. 

The commission has also summoned Health Mohammed Dagane (suspended CEC), Lary Wambua (CEC for Devolution), Winfred Gathangu (CEC for Finance) and Christine Ireri (Former acting county attorney). The second group is expected to appear before the commission on November 20.

On November 21, Lucia Mulwa (CEC for Education), Allan Igambi (CEC trade), Vesca Kagongo (CEC Water and Environment) and Hitan Majevdia (CEC roads) will be grilled. 

On November 22, the commission will host Newton Munene (CEC for ICT), Pauline Kahiga (Agriculture) and Charles Kerich(suspended CEC for finance)
