The headline 'This man messed up the country' had the photo of former Treasury boss Henry Rotich, who was in charge of the docket for seven years.

Mr Rotich was sacked in July over the controversial payments for Kimwarer and Arror dams. The country is said to have lost over Sh21 billion.

But Akombe seemingly disagreed, suggestively saying that Mr Rotich does not deserve to take the burden.

"Hey @StandardKenya, you got the right headline but the wrong picture!" she said without indicating who should take the burden.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have been in the past blamed for the country's economic downturn which has seen many people lose jobs.

During his time at the treasury, Rotich admitted that the country was broke, although he would retract the statement later.

“While this may indicate a somewhat strong fiscal position, it happened against a backdrop of lower execution of the Budget, which does not bode well for growth and poverty reduction,” Rotich said then.

Journalist James Smart posted another version of the newspaper, which had a photo of President Uhuru Kenyatta with the same headline.

"Who is THE MAN responsible for MESSING a whole country?" Smart asked in his satirical criticism towards Jubilee administration.

Currently, the country's debt stand at Sh6 trillion, a steady rise from Sh1.3 trillion in 2013. Uhuru and Ruto have been blamed for the quagmire.
