Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has bashed his ODM counterpart Raila Odinga over his latest controversial remarks about the Kamba people.
Speaking when he met Kambas living in Kibra in the course of ODM candidate Imran Okoth's campaigns, Raila likened Kambas' faithfulness to women's, saying that they will vote for Imran.
However, this has not amused Mudavadi, who on Monday bashed the leader, accusing him of disrespecting the Kamba community by resorting to abusive jokes.
He also stressed on the need to respect women and all the local ethnic communities, pointing out that while the former Premier might have been joking, he went overboard.
"What do you mean when you insult women and the Kamba community? As politicians, we must be careful about what we say and we must respect women (Sasa mtu akitoa matamshi ambayo inatusi wamama na jamii ya wakamba inamaanisha nini? Kama wanasiasa lazima tuchunge kile tunasema maana lazima tuheshimu kina mama)," he said.
He spoke on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show, with his attacks on Raila coming amid an eroded relationship between ANC and ODM, initially united under the National Super Alliance.
The two parties are also facing off in the Kibra race, where ANC has fronted former Raika aide Eliud Owalo to face off with Imran and 22 other candidates on November 7.
