Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale has attacked former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale over what he termed as a 'tribal' tweet.
Etale on Friday told off Khalwale over claims that the Luhya community in Kibra will vote for Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga.
''My brother @KBonimtetezi, please do not bring your tribal politics to Kibra. Your tweet yesterday was childish and juvenile. If Luhya people believed in you, trust me, you would be the Governor of Kakamega today. If they didn’t then, what makes you think they would in Kibra,'' said Philip Etale.
This comes after Khalwale on Thursday argued that the Luhya community in Kibra will support Mariga. He also called on Luos to support Mariga arguing that Luhyas have been supporting their kingpin Raila Odinga for over a decade.
''Kibra today. Luos must this time support Mariga just like Luhyias have supported Raila for 25 years,'' said Khalwale.
The Kibra parliamentary by-election which is slated for November 7, is expected to be a battle between ODM candidate Imran Okoth and Jubilee's Mariga.
Also in the race is Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate Eliud Owalo and Butichi Khamisi of the Ford-Kenya party.
