Subaru and Action Estates residents on the outskirts of Eldoret town are up in arms over increased insecurity.
A section of the residents who spoke to Hivisasa on Monday lamented that a day does not pass without someone being robbed on the way or a house broken into.
“As residents of Subaru and Action, we are disappointed with the security officers since a day does not pass without criminals terrorizing us,” said John Korir, one of the residents.
They said that despite raising the issues with the police, nothing has changed and instead it has moved from bad to worse.
“It is sad that if an attack has been done by the criminals despite calling the police, they don’t come on time but only show up after the thieves have run away with our properties. Are we less of Kenyans,” noted another resident, Loice Kiplagat.
The locals called on the County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa to enhance security in the region by deploying more security officers who will conduct regular patrols in the region.
“If nothing will be done, we will take laws into our hands by doing mob justice to those involved in those criminal acts,” warned Dominic Korir, also a local.
Eldoret West OCPD Eliud Maiyo while reacting to the concerns promised to enhance security in the affected areas by increasing police patrols.
He, however, called on residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative by knowing the whereabouts of their neighbours noting that if they suspect anyone's characters, they should report them to the police.
