Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations on Sunday, Muli opined that these village elders have been working tirelessly but they are neglected.

He stated that they have been investing their time and resources in solving disputes for no pay.

He maintained there is need to acknowledge and appreciate their efforts for the services rendered.

"We are still fighting for your pay and we won't give up. In the assembly, we made it clear that the chief's act should be amended. You guys need to be paid monthly salaries. In the coming budget, we will make sure you get something," said Muli.

Muli spoke at Kathome area in his constituency where he lauded county assemblies for rejecting the Punguza Mizigo Bill citing that the contents of the bill were not appropriate for ordinary Kenyans.

"The good thing about the bill was the name 'Punguza Mzigo which they used to lure Kenyans but the content wasn't helpful to Kenyans. How would two MP's serve a whole county? That cannot be possible," he said.
