Speaking on Monday after meeting leaders from the region, Kalonzo said he acquired the land legally and was even forced to take a loan to buy it.

"The truth is I had to get a bank loan to buy this place. I paid some duty to the registrar in the land office. I finished paying so many years after," said Kalonzo.

He said that those peddling lies that he grabbed the land or accusing him of corruption, are seeking to discredit him before the eyes of Kenyans.

Kalonzo noted that he acquired the land because he knew he will need it more for meetings.

"I knew I needed this place for a meeting like this. I want you to leave this place with a clear conscience that I never grabbed this place, never," he insisted.

Some of the leaders who attended the meeting include KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua, Redeemed Gospel Church lead Bishop Arthur Kitonga, Kitui Senator Enock Wambua among several legislators from the region.

Leaders who missed the meeting include; former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior and Makueni Member of Parliament Daniel Maanzo.
