The arrests of National Treasury officials continue to elicit mixed reactions from different quarters.
Suba South MP John Mbadi has called on Deputy President William Ruto to step aside until the probe into the matter is over.
In an interview with Nation, Mbadi said that Ruto and his ally Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, also Senate majority leader, should resign from their current posts because they have proven to be incompetent.
He noted that the duo lacks the will of the people at heart and they are not in a position to help President Uhuru Kenyatta deliver on his promises before he retires from power.
He noted that the Arror and Kimwarer dams saga is a clear indication that the two leaders have failed in their capacity.
Mbadi said that it is unfortunate that Ruto and Murkomen came out in defense of the CS yet the amount allocated to the project cannot be traced. He further asked them to apologize to the nation for misleading them over the matter.
“DP Ruto and his henchmen, including (Kipchumba) Murkomen, came out to publicly state that there was no impropriety in the matter.
"The indictment by the Director of Public Prosecution is, by extension, also an indictment of the DP and the senator. They should apologise for misleading Kenyans,” Mbadi said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
On his part, Cherengany MP Joshua Kutuny affirmed that he will not hesitate to remind Murkomen not to defend suspects in the loss of public funds.
He reminded Murkomen not to allege that the war against graft is targeting any of the communities in Kenya but for the common good of everyone.
Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata and Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura have also heaped praise on the office of the DPP following the order that saw the CS arrested.
