Passengers aboard a plane which is operated by local airline Rudufu Air, on Sunday held their breaths after it skidded off the runaway at Takaba Airstrip in Mandera West.
Daily Nation reported that an employee of Khadija Buko, a local flight booking agent confirmed that the plane had been not been pulled out of the mud where it is stuck.
The plane had thirty passengers on board when the incident occurred.
The staffer, who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the passengers were safe after the incident.
“We had 30 passengers on board when the incident happened and they are all safe in Takaba town,” he said.
“We tried to pull the plane (out of the mud) using a police lorry but it was impossible. We will either wait until the mud dries up or we get a tractor,” he added.
The incident occurred at a time when heavy rains are pounding the region.
The meteorological department has since advised the residents of the area to be careful during this period. The experts have also asked the residents to embrace safety measures during this season.
