Makadara MP George Aladwa has raised reservations towards the handshake politics among shaping political realignments in the country.
President Uhuru Kenyatta reconciled with Raila Odinga on March 9, 2018, a move that caught most of their lieutenants in shock given the tension at that time.
Speaking at DC Grounds on Sunday, Aladwa asked Raila to be careful with the handshake, arguing that he should be alert not to be deceived by Uhuru.
The ODM legislator also said the entire brigade will quickly make a u-turn should Raila issue a notice for the course.
“Let Uhuru not renege on the handshake deal and support Raila in 2022. If Uhuru is enjoying you, you also enjoy him. If you say handshake is done with, we will quickly make an about-turn,” said Aladwa.
Uhuru and Raila are set to receive the Building Bridges Initiative report which sources say that it could pave way for a referendum, which is already facing resistance from DP William Ruto.
At the DC Grounds, Raila promised a new Kenya, arguing that the Kibra by-election gave a pace for the anticipated changes in future.
"This Kibra election is an example to the whole country that Kenyans are yearning for change," Raila said.
He added, "It has demonstrated that Kenyans are tired with politics of deceit and corruption. It has also shown that money cannot buy votes."
