Kieni MP Kanini Kega has weighed in on the arrest of Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria, stating that assaulting a woman is against Kikuyu customs.
Speaking at function in Chaka on Saturday, Kega said anyone found guilty of breaking the law should not claim he/she is being targeted, rather he/she should just face the consequences of his/her actions.
“If you break the law, don't claim you are being targeted for being in Tangatanga. Moses Kuria has been arrested for [allegedly] beating up a woman, which is against Kikuyu customs, but his allies are saying it is because he is in Tangatanga," MP Kanini Kega said.
The vocal legislator claimed Kuria has a habit of resorting to physical abuse whenever one does not agree with him, adding that he has a series of messages from Kuria, where the latter allegedly abused him.
“I have messages from Moses Kuria in which he abuses me. Whenever you do not agree with him he resorts to physical abuse or assault. I am also contemplating pressing charges," he said.
Kuria was arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a woman, and was released on Saturday evening on a police bail.
He is expected to appear in court on Monday 13th January, 2019.
