Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale has blasted the Standard newspaper over alleged unfair reporting.
This is after the paper, in one of its top stories on Monday, put up a headline Etale considers lenient towards Deputy President William Ruto and his Kibra campaigns
He claims that the paper appears to be under some financial influence to make suggestions that ODM leader Raila Odinga sought help to beat Ruto.
The paper wrote "Governors join Raila to beat Ruto in Kibra", which the ODM official now says hides the fact that Raila, who campaigned in Woodley, has a massive backing in the constituency.
In a tweet Monday, he claimed that the paper spun the story to suit the highest bidder, predicting that ODM's Imran Okoth will still win, and wondering if then, the reporting will be fair.
"Even as the Standard Kenya thought of spinning the story of Kibra to suit the highest bidder, they forgot that ODM party had a huge crowd at Woodley. Or may be they will unleash photos of the massive crowd after Imran is declared the winner! Just asking," Etale tweeted.
Raila was on Sunday joined by governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga), Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Nominated Jubilee MP Maina Kamanda.
At the same time, the DP held a separate rally in the constituency to drum up support for Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga, as the November 7 mini poll looms.
