On Tuesday, State House defended Tuju over the ongoing allegations that he is working with the opposition.

Tuju has been on the receiving end from DP Ruto and his close associates, who are even threatening him with disciplinary actions.

On Sunday, Ruto through a tweet, launched attacks on Tuju questioning his role in the opposition. This was after Tuju had attended a meeting with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders in Rarieda constituency.

“So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of the ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu.” DP Ruto had tweeted

However, State House spokesperson Kanze Dena on Tuesday while speaking to Nation said, Tuju’s Rarieda meeting was official and his presence was for the President.

“The meeting in Rarieda was a government function and Mr Tuju was there in his capacity as the presidential representative.

“The Cabinet Secretary had an official speech of the President and, therefore, it was not a private function but a development event by the government,” said Ms Dena as quoted by Nation.

Mr Tuju also confirmed that the speech he read at Rarieda was Head of State’s speech and not his own.

"It was indeed an official trip. On our arrival, we were received by the local administration and Permanent Secretary in the State department of Youth,” he said.
