While the raiders did not exactly raid Matiang'i's compound, they however, made away with two cows belonging to his brother John Matiang'i.

Mr John Matiang'i is the current KNUT treasurer and a brother to the Interior Minister. Both were teachers before raising ranks to their current positions.

Esise MCA Joshua Nyarang'o confirmed the bizarre incident, adding that there was no security lapses  in the region though despite claims by bloggers.

"It's true that two cows were stolen and were immediately recovered near Chepalungu. Nobody was injured during the chase," he said, adding that it was the second compound of John, which he doesn't share with Dr Matiang'i.

While Dr Matiang'i's home is guarded by the police from Manga Police Station, John's homestead is not guarded because he does not enjoy the privileges.

When Dr Matiang'i visited Matutu Police Station last Friday, around 12 kilometers from his home, he asked police to intensify search in the region and apprehend cattle thieves.

"We must improve security and that's not an option. I gave County Commissioner Amos Mariba instructions and all is going on well," he said.

Dr Matiang'i also confirmed that the government had given Sh40 million to supplement CDF for construction of Manga Police Station.
