Musungu emerged a distant fourth with 524 votes in the nomination won by Bernard Otieno Okoth alias Imran who garnered 4, 382 votes.

Kuria could not hide his disappointment and he took to social media to rant that the Luhya community, where Musungu comes from, had failed to use their numerical advantage in Kibra to secure victory for their 'son'.

He said there was an urgent need for the community to hold a candid conversation and find out when did the rain started beating them.

"Luhyas how will you be helped? Who will save you? We should take tea and have a small chat(Waluhya mtasaidika aje? Ni nani ataokoa Waluhya? Tukunywe chai tuongee kiasi)," said the MP who has been running ground and online campaigns for Musungu who he refers to as a 'close friend'.

Kuria is among vocal Jubilee MPs who have denounced McDonald Mariga, the party's candidate in the Kibra race, and have vowed to rally behind the Raila Odinga-led ODM in the by-election scheduled for November 7.

Moments after Kuria ranted on social media, Musungu, who is also Director of Youth Affairs in ODM, conceded defeat and pledged to work with the winner to ensure his party captures the seat.

"I would like to appreciate my party ODM for conducting a peaceful party primary which proved the naysayers wrong, indeed ODM is an institution for political change. I remain loyal to my Party and will support Hon. Bernard Imran Okoth to ensure that ODM retains this seat," he said in a press release on Sunday.
