Politician Brian Weke has faulted the Jubilee Party members who have been pressuring President Uhuru Kenyatta to convene a party meeting to iron out the growing rift.

The ruling party has been seen to divide into three factions lately; the pro-Uhuru Kieleweke team, the independent Wanjiku team and Tangatanga group.

Members allied to Deputy President William Ruto through Tangatanga have been blaming Uhuru for not showing any interest in calling a meeting since his reelection in 2017.

But Weke, also a lawyer, now argues that it is not the job of the president to call parliamentary group meetings, but rather the responsibility of the majority leaders in the two houses.

The former Makadara MP aspirant says that the blame should be heaped on National Assembly majority boss Aden Duale and his Senate counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen instead.

"Mkubwa wa PG meeting ni Aden Duale, Majority Leader, if they want a PG wapigie Duale, na yeye ni mtu wa Tangatanga. If they want a joint na Senate watafute Murkomen. Waachane na Rais, huyu si rais wa Jubilee, ni wa nchi," Weke said.

This translates to; "PG head is the Majority Leader Aden Duale and he is a Tangatanga member. if they want one let them call him. If they want a joint with the Senate let them look for Murkomen and leave the president alone. He is a national president, not a Jubilee one."

Weke made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.

He also warned Ruto's allies against attempts to coerce the president into repairing the party, at a time when his dalliance with ODM leader Raila Odinga seems to be worrying Ruto who is keen on succeeding him in 2022.

He said that the same is now the role of the DP, opining that the president is handling a more important job of leading the nation and should not be drawn into petty issues.

"Kama sufuria zinaanguka waziokote, rais yuko kwa steering (they should pick the dropping pans, the president is on the steering wheel)," Weke said.
