Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o on Wednesday sacked three County Executive Committee (CEC) members in what has been termed as ensuring better service delivery.
The first term county boss fired Richard Ogendo who was in charge of Business, Co-operatives and Marketing, Thomas Ondijo who was at the helm of Roads, and Alice Moraa who headed the Energy and Industrialisation docket.
Addressing members of the press shortly after being fired, Ogendo said he will be back sooner than later.
“I am now free to do politics, something I have been keen on. My hands were tied in the cabinet and now ladies and gentlemen, Richard Ogendo is coming back,” he said.
The former Kisumu Central parliamentary aspirant thanked the governor for having granted him an opportunity to serve the people of Kisumu County.
“I just want to thank him so much for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of Kisumu. It was awesome because very many people want this jobs. I believe it was not only him, but also the support of the people that made me get this job,” said the film producer.
Born and raised in Manyatta more than 40 years ago, Ogendo was among leaders who took part in ODM party nominations for the Kisumu Central parliamentary seat ahead of the 2017 general election, but lost to Fred Odhiambo Ouda.
